Cautionary Tales - Gladwell on Doctors’ Prescriptions, Carbon Copies, and the Opioid Crisis They played and discussed the recent episode of Revisionist History: In Triplicate. In states that required paper copies, doctors were reluctant to prescribe OxyContin.

The Fifth Column - #364: Rejecting Boris, Reeducating Macy, Ridiculous Gavin Matt’s eardrum woes sounded gruesome. Michael’s read of Boris wasn’t too absurd. I appreciated the nuanced analysis of how relatively uninvolved Trump remained in the culture wars.

Very Bad Wizards - #240: Evil Tamler and David did a D&D moral alignment test before talking about evil. I think it’s useful as a socially constructed concept but doesn’t say anything real about a distinction that lies in human psychology.

Lexicon Valley - You Are So Articulate. Really. John went through a small number of the ways we unconsciously process semantic meaning in English.
