A poor farmer in a developing country with access to international commodity markets can profit from their use. The farmer need only concern themself with the value of the commodity or commodities they grow because competition between speculators can drive up the prices of a farmer’s product. In 2003, almost two million Indian farmers each earned thousands of dollars selling in this marketplace.
