The Moralisation Gap

The “Moralisation Gap” is a self-serving bias that allows us to see our behaviour in a positive light. If we misstep, we view it as relatively harmless, inconsequential, and provoked; therefore, justifiable and forgettable. However, when wronged, we interpret the slight differently: grievous, unprovoked, and harmful. This dramatic difference in experiences during a conflict is the “gap” that makes resolution difficult.
