Transport, Corruption, and Prices

In a competitive market, the company operating with the lowest costs will dictate a lower price for the product. Other companies whose transport costs are higher will need to reduce the amount paid to labourers to remain profitable at these lower prices. If companies exist in countries with corrupt governments, they will need to bribe officials. These extra expenses will further lower the amount paid to the labourers.
