In surveys, participants reported faith in institutions is rapidly decreasing. There is no longer a belief that an institution will develop trustworthy people. The military is a notable exception that proves the rule, the only institution in which trust has increased. It seems to many looking on that people are not doing what they ostensibly should be, according to their job - journalists do not tell the truth, doctors harm by prescribing certain drugs, etc.
