I am not proud of my country. I’m grateful to have been born here.

I am not proud of my accomplishments. I’m grateful for my genetics and the environment which fostered my successes.

One cannot feel pride without also accepting shame. I refuse both and choose to take the joy out of life, be thankful for what I have, and learn from mistakes.
