Humans underestimate the role played by context in shaping another person’s behaviour. Naturally, this places too much emphasis on personality as the driver of action.
When confronted with somebody of a seemingly unfriendly disposition, think first “perhaps they are having a bad day”, rather than “this person is rude”.
