Broadly, there are three prongs to China’s strategy:
- Made in China 2025
- Belt and Road Initiative
- Military-Civil Fusion

Made in China 2025 is their national plan to move away from being the world’s sweatshop. It involves a deemphasis on labour-intensive manufacturing and a focus on technology-intensive production.

The belt and road initiative is China’s plan to invest in almost 70 nations and international companies. It is viewed by much of the West, particularly the United States, as the development of a Sinocentric international trade network, making use of predatory lending and strong-arming to take control of valuable transport links across the world.

Military-civil fusion makes explicit China’s desire to transform the People’s Liberation Army into a world-class military by 2049. To achieve this goal the CCP is acquiring the intellectual property, research, and technological advances. Their target are the world’s citizens, researchers, scholars, and private industry.
