The Tension Between Beliefs and Democracy

One must simultaneously believe their opinion correct, yet respect the democratic process enough to discover whether others agree. One way of achieving this would be to remain humble that you can be wrong. Another way is to sanctify the democratic process itself, valuing it more highly than your desire. The latter requires a deep trust in the process and the government as an institution. Both are lacking in many Western countries in a bipartisan manner. Going forward, I endeavour to think more about this.
