The fungibility of money is perhaps its biggest advantage. Funny then, that humans would purposefully remove this property. We do so to protect ourselves against spending money which should be reserved for bills and necessities. Classifying one pile of money as “rent” and another as “food” may seem arbitrary and irrational, buts it’s entirely human. Rationality is over-rated.
