As somebody who has grown up in England, I have long been appreciative of the NHS.
However, more recently I have begun doubting the benefits of socialised healthcare.
The doctors are rushed and seemingly disinterested. The wait times are appalling and often deleterious. On top of this, it incentivises the waste of scarce resources, the time of medical professionals, for pointless screenings and internet-searchable questions.
The more I consider the economics of such an endeavour the more impressed I am that it works at all.
Not so impressed, however, that I think it even approaches the panacea it is held up as being.
