For a society to develop a product such as the “chicken of tomorrow” with its large breast and lighter feathers it was willing to participate in the not altogether pleasant process of breeding such a creature. The society emergent from these very innovations now has no taste for these means by which it got there. This is probably progress, but at its extremes this attitude can seem ungrateful and hypocritical.
