According to Matt Bruenig’s analysis of the data over ¾ of the racial wealth gap is accounted for by the difference between the wealthiest top 10% of “white” people and wealthiest top 10% of “black” people. The average difference between these two is $5.6 million while the average difference between the bottom 10% is $15000, a 350x disparity.
