Examples of Plan Continuation Bias

[Read about the bias here].

Your itinerary for the day growing out of hand and the understandable feeling of feel overwhelm experienced as a result. Then, upon reassessment, you realise that simple moving a single non-urgent errand you can make everything work.
A test given to doctors is a more invidious exmplification of how this bias can be blind you to the root cause of an issue. A boy requires resuscitation but isn’t responding. It doesn’t make sense, it should be a simple fix but the boy is dying. Most doctors fail to save the boy, but those that do took a step back and realised the breathing apparatus was broken. Fortunately the “dummy boy” wasn’t a loss to the world, but the importance of taking a bird’s eye view of a situation is hit home quite well.
