Worrywart Paradox

The person who plans ahead is likely seen as a “worrywart” and may never receive praise if correct.
An example:
> If there were a movement in the late 1990s to fortify plane cockpits the people involved could well have looked like catastrophists. If they had succeeded however, we would have never had cause to consider what they had prevented. A world without 9/11 would be a very different world indeed. The heroes responsible for such a world would go uncelebrated because we wouldn’t have the counterfactual in hand.

Being “over reactionary” as compared to the general public, if a correct position, often never has its time in the sun. If you’re right, and you protect against something, the best outcome is nothing happens and many will continue to believe you paranoid.
