The raid on supermarkets strike me as a missed opportunity for these stores to charge more for additional items (perhaps beyond two) and commit to give the extra profit to charities helping those struggling the most during this pandemic; perhaps paying for their broadband, buying them laptops, subsidising wages, funding food banks, etc.
This seems to me a fair and voluntary redistribution of wealth from those who are willing to spend an exorbitant amount on non-supply constrained items (the wealthy) to those who could better spend the money. We know the food is there, and while initially the supply chain experienced difficulty restructuring itself the adaptation of the food economy has been remarkable.
