The human mind is not rational. Daniel Kahneman would balk at this description stating that the notion of rationality I am using is misguided, perverted by the concept of an “agent” in classic economic theory. However you want to say it then, we don’t always act in a way which would maximise the outcome. Nothing surprising here. However, the reason we do less than desirable things isn’t always the result of missing or incorrect information - occasionally we want to do the wrong thing.
