My Thinking on the UK "Herd Immunity" Policy
- It is risk blind.
- Ignores the possibility that those who contract the illness won’t be perfectly immune.
- Ignores the fact that hospitals don’t have the capacity to deal with many people getting ill all at once.
- Ignores the long term damage to lungs that may occur.
- Assumes that at least 60% of the population would have contracted COVID-19 before a vaccine is available.
- Denies us the chance to wait it out until strong anti-virals are supplied which could literally save lives.
