- Males experience higher victimisation rates for all types except rape / sexual assault.
- Males twice as likely to be victim of a carjacking.
- Past four decades ¾ of homicides exclusively involved men.

- 2007: 64% female homicides perpetrated by family or intimate partner, 25% more by others they knew, and just 10% by a stranger.
- Males more likely killed by stranger - 2007: 16% killed by family / intimate partner, 2% by spouse / ex-spouse, 3% girlfriend or boyfriend, and 29% by strangers.
