With the choice between a post-modern, woke party led by an antisemite socialist, or the same government which has held power in some form for the past eleven years as polarisation has increased, the people went for the latter.
An important factor in the decision would have been the certainty surrounding Brexit as offered by the Conservatives, where the Labour position was more nuanced and allowed for the possibility that it would be overturned.
In any case, here we are. I wasn’t going to be happy either way, which also means I haven’t been particularly upset. We’ve got another 5 years of the Conservatives - hopefully they’ll do something good with it.
