If consciousness is such that an artificial intelligence could suffer surely it would be the most unimaginably high level of suffering possible? With a long term memory capacity that even those with hyperthymesia couldn’t fathom it would be susceptible to reliving any pain in full resolution.
In taking seriously the idea that an AGI may be conscious you eventually question, with its superhuman capacity to remember everything in perfect detail, what would it even mean to experience something? Is there still a “present moment” for it if every moment can be relived?
