The New Atlantis - Fiction in the Age of Screens

by Erik P. Hoel
> Given its very nature, the novel cannot help but stand in cultural opposition to extrinsic drift. For the novel is the only medium in which the fundamental unit of analysis is the interiority of a human life.

Erik has fast become one of my favourite writers, and as much as I’ve tried I can’t think of how video games could similarly represent the intrinsic world in the way captured by literature.
