The question as to whether consciousness i epiphenomenal fascinated me. Does it impact the world around us, or simply observe?
There are the quantum mechanical arguments that the collapse of the wave function is due to its interaction with consciousness, even beyond this however we don’t know for sure that it effects our behaviour.
We know from studies that a subject’s action can be predicted from electrical signals in the brain prior to that subject’s conscious awareness of the desire to act. However, is ruminating on consciousness not itself proof that consciousness has an effect on our state of being?
