A thought experiment; imagine a child kept in a monochrome room and offered only an extension collection of black and white texts on everything we know about the colour red - its wavelength, its position in the visible spectrum of light, its many digital representations, its appearances in nature, and so on. Now, only after learning everything there is to learn about this colour we present the child a red ball. Does that child learn something new?
