Brief Thoughts on Dostoevsky's Notes from the Underground Part 1

There is a hilarious and uncomfortable relatability to the subject’s futile, flailing rebellion against determinism and utilitarianism. The fictional author identifies a hypothesised utopia supposedly resulting from a complete reasoned and rational understanding of the universe. He then attacks this false promise in a contradiction-laden prose which makes for deep provocation of thought as well as rich entertainment.
