Blind Sight

There are individuals who have suffered brain damage and can no longer consciously see, yet when instructed to walk across an unknown and cluttered room they can do so without much issue. When shown images of smiling or frowning faces their own face too will smile or frown respectively leaving the subject confused as to why their face is behaving that way. Such individuals are said to be suffering from “blind sight” which describes a lack of meta cognition. Another interesting observation is that when these subjects are shown images of a binary nature and asked to guess which is presented they achieve more than 80% accuracy.
