Robert Bork: The Man Who Changed Antitrust Law

Robert Bork noticed an overreach on the part of the government in “antitrust” regulation and wrote the renowned “The Antitrust Paradox”. Within he explained that at the time of writing (1978) the antitrust laws were economically irrational and actually hurt consumers. He argued for a focus on consumer well-fare rather than on artificially fostering competition. The latter could, and did, result in poorly run companies being kept afloat which was a detriment to both consumers and the society. This book was massively influential in the shift in approach adopted by the Supreme Court when approaching cases of antitrust.
