Our evolved programming for tribal conflict made sense but it is now fatal with our current weaponry and industrial power. It is inherently a competitive disadvantage for the more enlightened to step away from their genetic programming because by rejecting the instinct to behave tribally those who do not similarly reject this evolved programming will have the advantage. Either a method needs to be implemented which results in tribalism serving a maladaptive trait, or we need to all reject it together. Neither are easy to instigate.
