Facebook has been paying teens $20 a month for total access to their phone activity

With the teens having consented I see no problem with this collection of “imtimate user data”. In reality this is not a million miles from what people like Matt Hogan are advocating for with services such as Datacoup.
I only hope that the data is going to be used for something productive, perhaps even open sourced to allow others the opportunity to extract useful insights into phone activity.
The data will suffer from selection bias of course; only those confident enough in what it is that they do would volunteer a subject in this research. As it is now Android only I also manage that, in as much as there are psychological differences between those that chose Android over iPhone, this too will bias the data.
