Homosexuality presents a fascinating paradox on an evolutionary perspective. The allele (groups of genes) that code for gayness may be passed down in two ways;
- they may have a side effect of making non-gay carriers of the genes more attractive to the opposite sex
- the gene may have the opposite effect in women, meaning that female carriers of these genes have a reproductive advantage
