Recently on Revive Stronger Mike Israetel and Nick Tumminello argued for exercise diversity as naturally there can be no movement which is best for every point in a range of motion for a given muscle. By implementing a variety of movements which target a muscle through different planes of resistance and ranges of motion we can better optimise muscle growth. In some cases this involves implementing a clearly defined partial ROM to avoid weak points and overload the stronger portions of a lift. An example of this would be rows in which a lighter weight is used at a full range of motion to activate and squeeze the lats at the top, while heavier weights can be used with a partial ROM to overload the bottom portion.
