I am shocked that this is the game released by Rockstar after about 7 years of development time. Not because it doesn’t look like it should have taken that much time; it absolutely does. Not because it’s disappointing; it has blown me away. The reason that I am so shocked is because I don’t know how an infinite budget could be put behind what is effectively an incredibly niché Western simulator. Indeed, I don’t even know how this is being billed as a blockbuster style video game given the hand-crafted aesthetic and deliberate, slow-paced gameplay. This feels like a memorable addition to an already awesome discography of releases under the Rockstar name.
