China are experimenting with a social credit score which uses data collated from many companies to rate a person not just on their financial reliability, but the way that they behave in society. While I see the appeal of such a score, and I imagine it can affect better behaviour, the idea of blacklisting a person is tantamount to writing them off as it leaves very little room for recovering one’s reputation.
